We’ve all been there. You run your facebook ad and get a lot of clicks! It’s amazing to know that your ad has been working. Except there are no sales and you have no idea why. Lets go over several of the reasons why this could be happening.
Before we get into the different areas of your website it’s important to know how many sales you should expect from your visitors. This is called your websites conversion rate, and it just means how many people actually end up buying something. Conversion rates change from industry to industry and can be between 2% - 25% depending on what you’re selling. Since you’re most likely a new store it’s best to work around the 2% mark. This means out of every 100 people that visit your website you should be getting 2 sales. Of course this doesn’t mean out of every 100 people 2 will make a purchase, this is just an average. You could have 200 people visit and no sales, or 50 people visit and get 5 sales. With that said, if you have 500 visitors in a day and no sales, something is wrong.
People don’t trust your website.
Building a website that looks trustworthy is really important. Of course you know you are a real business and will make sure to get the products to your customers, but your potential customers don’t know that. Little things like title names, photo quality, descriptions, logos, and pages can make or break your someone's experience on your website. If you haven’t checked out the article on how to make a credible website, that’s your first step.
If you think your website looks great there are a few things you can do to get others reactions to it.
Ask your friends and family to give their honest opinions of your website. They might be a little biased but hopefully they will be honest. You can also write into Oberlo and Shopify help and ask them to review your website for you. There are also websites you can use to do this:
This is one of the most popular reasons people do not follow through with a purchase on your website. When I was running facebook ads for Free + Shipping products a lot of people would click to my website, add items into their cart, go to checkout and then BAM! Shipping charges for something they thought was going to be free. This doesn’t mean that you can’t run those types of ads, it’s just very important to make sure everyone knows they will be paying for the shipping of this product. Writing that information in your ad on Facebook lets people know even before they go into your website that they will have to pay. That way you can avoid people who aren’t willing to spend money at all.
Use Your Facebook Pixel.
At the end of the day there are a number of reasons why your facebook ad is bringing in so many website clicks but no sales, and without an insiders look into your Facebook ads account, it can be hard for even an expert to tell. This is why it’s so important to use the Facebook Ads Pixel. The Facebook Pixel is a tool that lets you monitor the traffic you get on your website. You can see where people are coming from (Facebook, Instagram, etc) and you can see the page people are leaving your website.
For example if you have 100 people visit your website and you know that 90% of them leave while on your product page, you will know that the product page is the issue. Then you can make improvements to your product page, run another ad and test it out. The facebook pixel will also help you in remarketing your products to potential customers. You can find the people who have already visited your website, added an item into the cart and left. It will show them ads made up of the products they added.
