Hey poliq great question!
I'd love to offer some insight. I went to school for Art History and then eventually worked in retail and restaurant management for a few years before moving into ecommerce. It's very doable!
What worked for me was starting and joining extra curricular projects and clubs that required and highlighted management experience. Even though it is in another field, it really shows your leadership capabilities. For example, joining a hackathon can be a way to show your dedication to managing projects and people on a resume.
Otherwise, I would suggest simply powering through and up in your current workplaces. If you're good at managing, then push for the opportunities in your situation. Even if not the end goal, it's great leverage when looking for other jobs. If they don't exist, start offering to help with work the manager needs done. There is always something they don't want to or are too busy to do, take it off their plate and get your foot in the door! Eventually, someone will leave and you can step in organically.
Hope that helps. You got this and good for you for recognizing roles you would succeed in.
